I am so excited to launch a brand new course built around gel plate printing, colour layering, drawn and printed forms inspired by nature and beautiful patterns discovered along the way. These are processes that Iâve developed over time and that I've introduced, taught and refined on my in-person retreats. They're all included in this comprehensive course.

Its such a treat to watch the way you play with color and to see your loose creative process. It helps to remind me that the magic happens with unplanned explorations. Thank you

The Inspiration
Even though gel plate printing is central to Print, Paint & Pattern this course is about much more.
Colour is an important pillar of art making, and in this course we'll do deep dive colour mixing and working with specific colour moods and limited palettes using combinations of magenta, yellow and bright blue with black and white to create shades, tints and subtle tones as well as juicy semi-translucent mixes to be painted and printed in juicy layers, beautiful patterns and interesting textures.
Over the last six months  Print, Paint & Pattern took shape as a course after I've done loads of experimenting with combinations of acrylics and other water based materials ... I have  a few tricks up my sleeve. đ
Helping students to develop their own unique creativity and find their artistic voice has been aims since the start of my online teaching back in 2015. In Print, Paint & Pattern you will be taken on a creative journey in which you'll explore a wide array of new ideas for making art on paper and more. The addition of gel plate printing opens up fresh possibilities and broadens the options for new techniques to be explored.
When I first started teaching online, the first courses were focussed on acrylic painting, and incorporating layers to add both depth and vibrancy. The goal of teaching students to paint in layers of varying saturation with a combination of acrylic and paint medium was quite challenging. As I thought of ways to break down and simplify the processes I used in my own practice I realised how effective the collaging of thin, semi-translucent painted papers is to explain what I wanted to teach. Collaging is a wonderful way to incorporate play, embrace happy accidents and explore in a way that is bold and free.
Over the last ten years I've offered different courses, including ones built around collage, but this is the first course where gel plate printing is used to make collage papers as well as for printing directly onto paper.Â
This allows for more techniques in different media to be incorporated.
Print, Paint & Pattern consists of three packed modules that are delivered over three weeks from 14 September to 4 October (you'll have access for eighteen months from the end of the course, so plenty of time to do the projects in your own time).
Each module consists of five projects delivered in easy to digest lessons from Monday to Thursday, and a bigger weekend project released on Saturdays.
All projects are pre-recorded, edited and come with subtitles in English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
Week One - Vessels & Vases
Week Two - Bloom Wild
Week Three - Textures, Tints & Tones
Bonus - Beyond Paper
There's also three warm-up projects that make up the Play with Print mini-course included. If you'd like to join Play with Print only, it's available here absolutely FREE.
